Redmi 17 5G Leak Points to a 7,000mAh-Plus Battery and a More Efficient Snapdragon 4-Series Chip

Redmi 17 5G is emerging as one of Xiaomi’s most attention-grabbing budget phones, largely because of a battery rumor that places it above the 7,000mAh mark. That single detail already sets it apart in a segment where endurance often matters as much as raw speed.

The phone is also expected to arrive soon in India, and the timing appears to place it alongside Redmi Turbo 5. SmartPrix reports that the pair could debut on 18 June, although Xiaomi has only officially confirmed the arrival of Xiaomi 17T on 1 June in India for now.

A battery built to stand out

The strongest talking point around Redmi 17 5G is its power capacity. The device is said to pack a battery larger than 7,000mAh, which would make it a serious contender for users who prioritize long battery life.

Charging details remain unclear at this stage. No fast charging specification has been revealed yet, so the full charging setup is still one of the biggest unknowns surrounding the phone.

Display and performance remain under wraps

On the front, Redmi 17 is reported to use an LCD panel with a high refresh rate. The exact screen size has not surfaced, but there is a chance Xiaomi will use the same panel format found on Redmi 15.

If that turns out to be true, the display could measure 6.9 inches with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Those numbers are still unconfirmed, so they should be treated as part of the leak cycle rather than final specifications.

Performance is expected to come from a Snapdragon 4-series chipset. The exact model has not been named, though Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is one possibility since it only launched recently.

Software and cameras

Redmi 17 is also tipped to ship with HyperOS based on Android 16. That would put it in line with Xiaomi’s newer software direction for the Redmi lineup.

Camera leaks point to a 50-megapixel main rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The rest of the camera setup has not been detailed, but the available information suggests the phone is still aiming to cover everyday photography needs.

How it may fit next to Redmi Turbo 5

The launch story becomes more interesting because Redmi 17 5G is said to share the stage with Redmi Turbo 5. That model already debuted in China earlier this year, and some of its specifications are better known.

Redmi Turbo 5 is rumored to be a rebrand of the Poco X8 Pro. Its leaked hardware includes a 6.58-inch 1.5K 120Hz display, Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, 7,560mAh battery, and 100W charging.

Its camera setup is also more aggressive on paper, with a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel secondary camera, and a 20-megapixel front camera. If both phones do launch together, Redmi appears to be preparing two different approaches for the same event.

In that scenario, Redmi Turbo 5 would target users looking for stronger specifications, while Redmi 17 5G would lean on a giant battery, Snapdragon 4-series efficiency, and a smoother display experience. For now, though, Redmi 17 remains in leak territory, and the most closely watched details are still its chipset, screen size, and charging support.
