Oppo is pushing the Reno line closer to premium territory with the Reno16 series, and the strongest signals come from two numbers that are hard to ignore: a 200MP main camera and a battery that reaches 7,000 mAh on the Pro model. The lineup is now official in China, where Oppo is clearly positioning it as a more ambitious option in the upper mid-range segment.
The series consists of two models, Reno16 and Reno16 Pro, and both are built to feel more upscale than a typical Reno phone. They combine a 120Hz display, 80W fast charging, and a design language that keeps Oppo’s familiar elegance while adding a more assertive look.
Premium build with a sharper identity
Oppo keeps the back panel in glass and pairs it with a metal frame to give the phones a more refined in-hand feel. One of the most eye-catching finishes is Starry Night, which uses a 3D ice-clear floating process to create a more layered visual effect on the rear surface.
Color options also differ by model. Reno16 comes in Starry Night, Galaxy Purple, and Midnight Black, while Reno16 Pro is offered in Starry Night, Dream Blue, and Midnight Black.
Both devices also carry IP69K certification. That rating indicates resistance to dust and high-pressure water splashes, a level of protection more commonly associated with higher-end phones.
A camera setup built around detail
The camera system is the main selling point of the Reno16 series. Both the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro use a 200MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a combination aimed at delivering sharper results and better performance in low light.
Oppo does not stop at the main sensor. Each model also includes a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera, covering portrait shots, long-range zoom, and wider landscape scenes. On the front, both phones feature a 50MP selfie camera designed for more detailed and natural-looking self-portraits as well as higher-quality video calls.
The company also adds its Natural Tone Engine to improve realism in skin tones and portrait detail. Live Photo support is available across all cameras, allowing moving moments to be captured with higher quality.
Performance is split between the two models
Oppo gives the Pro model and the standard model different chipsets. Reno16 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s and uses a nano-ice crystal heat dissipation cooling system.
The regular Reno16 relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super. Both phones support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, dual SIM 5G, and an additional network acceleration chip to keep connections stable during gaming or streaming.
Battery life takes a major step up
The other headline feature is battery capacity. Reno16 Pro packs a 7,000 mAh battery, a figure that stands out for a premium phone that still keeps a slim profile.
Despite that large battery, the Reno16 Pro remains around 7.7 mm thick. It also supports 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, making it one of the most complete power packages in the series.
The standard Reno16 is not far behind. It comes with a 6,700 mAh battery and 80W fast charging, giving it a strong endurance advantage for everyday use.
Price and availability in China
Reno16 Pro is sold in three memory configurations. The 12GB/256GB version is priced at around Rp 10.2 million, the 12GB/512GB model at around Rp 11.1 million, and the 16GB/512GB variant at around Rp 12 million.
The regular Reno16 has a wider range of options. Its 12GB/256GB model is priced at around Rp 7.9 million, the 12GB/512GB version at around Rp 9 million, the 16GB/256GB variant at around Rp 8.8 million, the 16GB/512GB model at around Rp 9.7 million, and the 16GB/1TB version at around Rp 11.1 million.
Sales in China are scheduled to begin on 29 May 2026. With a 200MP camera, large batteries, premium materials, and IP69K protection, the Reno16 series is built to compete more aggressively in a market where upper mid-range phones are increasingly expected to deliver flagship-like features.
