8,000mAh Power In A Slim Frame, Xiaomi 17 Max Adds Leica 200MP And Flagship Speed

Xiaomi’s latest flagship message is simple: a massive battery no longer has to come with a bulky frame. The Xiaomi 17 Max brings an 8,000mAh cell into a body that still stays slim, aiming at users who want endurance, premium hardware, and a more comfortable in-hand feel.

That approach is not common in the flagship segment, where brands often force a trade-off between battery size, thickness, and top-tier performance. Xiaomi positions the 17 Max as a phone that tries to hold all three at once, while still adding fast charging and a full set of high-end features.

A slim body with a very large battery

The most striking part of the Xiaomi 17 Max is its battery setup. Xiaomi uses its latest Jinshajiang battery technology with up to 16 percent silicon content, and says the energy density reaches 894Wh/L.

That combination is what allows the 8,000mAh capacity to fit without making the device look overly thick. Charging support is equally aggressive, with 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, PPS 100W compatibility, and Surge P3 and Surge G2 chips for charging efficiency and power management.

Big display, narrow bezels

On the front, the phone carries a 6.9-inch flat OLED panel with ultra-thin 1.28mm bezels. Rounded corners help the design look more balanced and modern.

Xiaomi also uses SuperPixel technology on the display, claiming it can deliver 2K resolution while consuming less power than a conventional 1.5K panel. The screen supports an adaptive LTPO refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, peaks at 3,500 nits, and is protected by third-generation Dragon Crystal Glass.

The company says the glass improves impact resistance by up to 20 times. Users can also choose between DC dimming and PWM 2160Hz, depending on comfort preferences.

Flagship power and cooling

Inside, the Xiaomi 17 Max is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage to keep performance at the top tier.

Thermal management is handled by a large 5,500mm² vapor chamber. Xiaomi says the phone can run Genshin Impact at the highest graphics settings with stable frame rates during long gaming sessions.

Leica camera system leads the package

Photography is another major focus for the device. Xiaomi equips the 17 Max with a Leica-branded triple-camera setup, led by a 200-megapixel HP9 main sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size.

The main camera is joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The telephoto unit supports 3x optical zoom, up to 6x lossless zoom, and macro shooting from as close as 15 cm.

For selfies, the phone uses a 32-megapixel front camera. Xiaomi also highlights 4K video live streaming directly from the phone as one of its standout imaging features.

Premium extras and pricing

The rest of the hardware list is just as complete. The Xiaomi 17 Max includes dual stereo speakers, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB 3.2 Gen 1, reverse wireless charging, and an IP69 rating.

It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0, and comes in white, sky blue, and pixel black. The black model measures 8.15mm thick, while the white and blue versions are 8.2mm, with weight ranging from about 219 grams to 225 grams depending on the color.

With its 8,000mAh battery, 6.9-inch display, Leica 200MP camera system, and full flagship feature set, the Xiaomi 17 Max is aimed at users who want long battery life without giving up premium performance or advanced imaging hardware.
