Samsung may be closing in on one of the longest-running complaints about foldable phones: the visible crease across the display. A recent leak suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will deliver crease control on par with the Oppo Find N6, a device praised for its unfolded screen that feels flatter and smoother across the surface.
That would mark a meaningful shift for Samsung’s foldable line. For years, the crease has been one of the clearest reminders that a foldable still does not fully match the seamless look and feel of a traditional flat-screen phone.
A more polished foldable display
The claim comes from leaker UniverseIce, who said the crease control on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is “as impressive” as what Oppo achieved with the Find N6. Oppo has earned attention for its use of 3D liquid printing, a solution that helps the unfolded display feel more even and refined in use.
The wording of the leak also matters. By referring to the “series,” the update points to more than one device receiving the improvement, rather than a single model.
Not just about the hinge
The reported change does not appear to rely only on hinge design. The leak points to support from the structure behind the display panel as a major part of the improvement, although no further technical explanation has been provided.
That kind of detail suggests Samsung is looking beyond visible hardware parts and working on the internal support system as well. In foldables, that kind of refinement can matter as much as the hinge itself.
Crease remains a visual issue, even if it is not always disruptive
The crease is usually easier to notice when the display is off than when it is lit. That means improvements of this sort may be most apparent from certain angles or in specific lighting conditions.
For many users, the crease does not create a serious problem in daily use. Even so, it remains one of the most obvious signs that foldable phones are still catching up to the premium feel of flat-screen devices.
Two Galaxy Z Fold models are expected
Samsung is expected to launch two Z Fold models in 2026. One is said to be a wider version designed to face Apple’s first foldable phone, which is rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to serve as the top-end model. The wider variant is said to be the more affordable option, although with slightly reduced specifications.
A bigger test for the foldable market
If Samsung reaches the same level of crease control as the Oppo Find N6, it would signal that one of the foldable category’s oldest weaknesses is finally being addressed. At that point, the conversation around foldables in 2026 would move beyond hinges and screen sizes.
The sharper question would become which company can make a foldable display feel most integrated in everyday use. If Samsung gets that balance right, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series could become one of its most notable milestones in the foldable segment.
