Honor is reportedly preparing a new X-series smartphone for the China market, and the headline feature is hard to miss: a battery rated above 10,000mAh. The device is also said to arrive in June, which is why it is widely believed to be the Honor X80.
That combination alone would put it in a very attention-grabbing position in the mid-range segment. A massive battery paired with 90W fast charging could make it one of the most unusual mainstream phones expected soon.
A bigger battery than most mid-range phones
The most striking detail in the leak is the battery size. Honor X80 is said to carry a 10,000mAh+ battery, far above the capacity usually found in current mid-range models.
Honor has already released several phones with 10,000mAh+ batteries before, but this one is reportedly the first in the X-series to adopt that level of capacity. The same leak also points to 90W fast charging, making the battery setup the key selling point of the phone.
6.8-inch OLED display with a familiar formula
On the front, the Honor X80 is expected to use a 6.8-inch LTPS OLED panel with a flat design. The display is also said to support 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
That setup keeps the phone aligned with the direction of its predecessor, while still offering a large screen for everyday use and media consumption. The high refresh rate also suggests smoother navigation across the interface.
Snapdragon 6-series power under the hood
For performance, the Honor X80 is said to run on a Snapdragon 6-series chipset. The chip mentioned in the leak is the newly announced Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
No additional details about memory or storage were included in the latest report. Even so, the direction of the hardware suggests Honor is still aiming for a balance between efficiency and enough performance for mass-market users.
Built with durability in mind
The phone is also said to feature a shock-resistant body. That detail matters because a similar approach was already seen on its predecessor.
For a device centered on a large battery, physical durability could be a useful advantage. It may appeal to users who want a phone that can handle heavier daily use and more active mobility.
Color options and what comes next
Several color options are also said to be in the works. The listed choices are Mystic Black, Moonlight White, Lightning Red, and Vibrant Orange.
Those colors suggest Honor may still want the device to have a distinct style, even with a practical focus. Brighter options such as Lightning Red and Vibrant Orange could help broaden its appeal beyond users who prefer conservative finishes.
Context from the previous model also helps explain why expectations are high. Honor X70 reportedly sold nearly 7 million units, and it came with a 6.79-inch OLED display, 1.5K resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The X70 used a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip, carried an 8,300mAh battery with 80W fast charging, and even offered wireless charging on a 512GB variant. There is no indication yet that a similar wireless charging option will appear on Honor X80.
Still, the rumored updates point to clear progress in several areas at once. The screen is slightly larger, the chipset is said to move to a newer generation, and the battery capacity climbs sharply into 10,000mAh+ territory.
