8,000mAh Battery, 165Hz Display, and Global Launch Plans Put iQOO 16 Back in Focus

A larger battery, a high-end Snapdragon platform, and a 165Hz 2K display are now all part of the growing picture around iQOO 16. The device has surfaced again in the IMEI database, and this time the marketing name has reportedly appeared as well, making the next flagship from iQOO look much closer to an official launch.

The listing is linked to model number I2601, according to PassionateGeekz. That detail matters because IMEI appearances often suggest that internal testing and regional rollout planning are already underway.

Global launch plans start to take shape

What makes the latest sighting more notable is the direction of the rollout. The same report points to both global and India variants being prepared at the same time, which suggests iQOO is not limiting the phone to a single market.

That approach would place iQOO 16 in a wider launch strategy rather than a China-only debut. For a flagship device, that usually signals a more ambitious distribution plan and a stronger push beyond the brand’s home market.

Performance-first hardware is expected

Rumors surrounding the chipset point to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. The processor is said to bring major gains in CPU and GPU performance, with gaming, heavy multitasking, and power efficiency all benefiting from the upgrade.

That hardware direction fits iQOO’s long-running focus on performance-oriented phones. The company appears to be aiming for a flagship that emphasizes speed and stability under sustained load, not just peak benchmark numbers.

Display and security details

On the front, iQOO 16 is said to use a 6.85-inch Samsung OLED panel. The screen is rumored to support 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, which would place it among the more premium displays in the flagship segment.

A report also points to an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. That would add another layer to the device’s premium positioning, especially for users who expect fast and secure unlocking.

Camera setup leans toward versatility

The engineering prototype reportedly carries a 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor. Alongside it, iQOO is said to be testing a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

If that configuration reaches the final product, the phone could offer a meaningful jump in imaging capability. The periscope lens would matter most for zoom use, while the larger main sensor could help with low-light photography.

Battery capacity stands out most

Among all the rumored specifications, the battery may be the most eye-catching. iQOO 16 is said to pack a battery larger than 8,000mAh, an unusually big figure for a premium flagship.

Combined with the newer chipset, that battery size points to a device built for both high performance and exceptional endurance. The phone is also rumored to launch with Android 17 and OriginOS 7 out of the box.

Launch timing is narrowing

Current chatter places the China debut around October. Global and India availability are then expected to follow in November or December, although iQOO has not confirmed any of those plans yet.

For now, the IMEI appearance is the clearest signal that the phone is moving beyond early rumor status. With the marketing name already showing up in the database, iQOO 16 now looks increasingly close to becoming a real product rather than just a spec-sheet rumor.
