Lava’s Shark 2 5G arrives as a budget phone that tries to cover the most important basics without stretching the price too far. It brings 5G, a 120Hz display, a 6,000mAh battery, and Android 16, but the trade-offs are just as visible as the headline features.
The phone is positioned for entry-level buyers in India who want long battery life, a large screen, and next-generation connectivity at a low cost. Lava has set the Shark 2 5G at Rs 11,999 for a single 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant, with sales starting on 10 June 2026 through the company’s retail partners in India.
A clear offline-first push
Lava is not selling the Shark 2 5G through online channels. Instead, the company is leaning on physical retail networks, which reinforces the phone’s role as an offline-first budget device.
The handset is offered in Sonar Gold and Arya Blue. That distribution strategy keeps the focus on mass-market buyers who are more likely to encounter the device in stores than on e-commerce pages.
Battery capacity comes with a bulky build
The biggest attraction is the 6,000mAh battery, supported by 18W fast charging over USB-C. That setup should appeal to users who care more about endurance than charging speed.
The downside is size and weight. The Shark 2 5G measures 8.75 mm thick and weighs 210 grams, which makes it a noticeably substantial device rather than a slim one.
Display specs help, but only to a point
On the front, Lava uses a 6.75-inch IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smoother scrolling is a strong point for this price range.
Still, the display resolution remains HD+, so sharpness is clearly not the main selling point. The screen also uses a U-shaped notch for the front camera and has a fairly thick bottom bezel, both of which underline its budget positioning.
Basic hardware, but not the most basic storage
Under the hood, the Shark 2 5G runs on the Unisoc T8200 chipset. It comes with LPDDR4X 4 GB RAM and UFS 2.2 64 GB storage, which is modest but not stripped down completely.
Lava also includes virtual RAM expansion of up to 4 GB. Storage can be expanded further with a microSD card of up to 1 TB, giving the phone a little more flexibility for users who need extra space.
Android 16 stands out in this segment
One of the more notable parts of the package is Android 16 out of the box. For an affordable phone, that is a strong software point and gives the device a modern starting point.
Even so, there is no clear information about long-term software support or security updates. That leaves an open question for buyers who want a phone that can stay current for a longer period.
Camera and features stay simple
The rear camera setup is led by a 13 MP main sensor, while the front camera is 5 MP. Those numbers make it clear that imaging is not the main priority here.
