Casio has expanded the G-Shock Mudmaster line in the United States with the GWG-B1000MG-1A9, a model that pushes the rugged outdoor look into much more dramatic territory. It arrives with a $900 price tag and a design language Casio calls Magma Gold, making it one of the most visually striking entries in the Master of G family.
The watch stands out immediately through its volcanic-inspired styling. Casio combines bright gold tones with bio-based materials, while adding red and orange accents to the hands and indexes to strengthen the heat-and-pressure theme.
A tougher build under the flashy finish
Despite the more aggressive appearance, the GWG-B1000MG-1A9 still follows the Mudmaster formula for harsh environments. Casio uses a Carbon Core Guard structure and bio-based resin in the case to preserve strength while keeping weight in check.
The watch weighs 114 grams, which helps it stay relatively manageable for a heavy-duty tool watch. It also carries shock resistance, vibration resistance, mud resistance, and 200-meter water resistance.
Physical navigation through the hands
One of the most unusual features is the Location Indicator function. Through the Casio Watches app on iOS or Android, users can enter a destination, and the hand at the 3 o’clock position will physically move to point toward that direction.
That approach gives the watch a more immediate form of navigation than a simple digital readout. Casio positions it as a practical aid for field use, especially when visibility is limited.
Built for outdoor readings and visibility
The GWG-B1000MG-1A9 also includes a Triple Sensor setup. That means it offers a digital compass, barometer/altimeter, and thermometer for more complete outdoor monitoring.
Casio protects the display with sapphire crystal and an anti-reflective coating. The combination is meant to improve readability while supporting the durability expected from a Master of G model.
Connected functions and power support
Bluetooth connectivity lets the watch link with a smartphone for added functions. Among them are automatic time adjustment and mission logging.
Power comes from Tough Solar, which reduces dependence on routine battery replacement. Casio says the rechargeable battery can last about six months under normal use without light exposure, and up to 24 months in total darkness with power-saving mode active.
The watch also supports Multi-Band 6 radio control for automatic time calibration through signals from six global transmitters. Together, these features place the GWG-B1000MG-1A9 at the premium end of Casio’s rugged watch lineup, where design, sensor tools, and modern connectivity are all part of the package.
The release adds another attention-grabbing option to the Master of G family, which is built for extreme conditions and specialized use. Casio has also recently introduced three GravityMaster GWR-B3000 watches, showing that the brand continues to widen its high-end rugged watch range.
