Lenovo is positioning the Tab Plus Gen 2 as a tablet built first for entertainment. The new model combines a larger 12.1-inch 120Hz display with a nine-speaker JBL Pro audio system and MediaTek Dimensity 7400 power.
The biggest shift is not just the screen or the chipset, but the way Lenovo is treating sound as a core feature. The tablet can also work as a Bluetooth speaker, giving it a more unusual role than most tablets in its class.
Audio built for movies and music
The audio setup has grown to nine JBL Pro speaker units, one more than the previous generation. Lenovo also adds a dedicated bass unit and full Dolby Atmos support, calling the setup a Cinematic Audio System.
That approach makes the Tab Plus Gen 2 feel closer to a portable entertainment device than a standard productivity tablet. The Bluetooth speaker mode is especially notable, since it lets a connected phone use the tablet as a portable speaker for casual listening or small gatherings.
A bigger panel with smoother motion
Lenovo has also expanded the display from 11.5 inches to 12.1 inches. The LCD panel uses a 2560 x 1600, or 2.5K, resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 is included, while peak brightness can reach 800 nits in High Brightness Mode. That gives the tablet more flexibility for use in brighter environments.
The tablet also comes with a 360-degree built-in kickstand. The design makes it easier to switch between landscape viewing and portrait use for video calls.
Performance, storage, and long software support
Under the hood, Lenovo replaces the Helio G99 used in the previous model with the MediaTek Dimensity 7400. The upgrade should make everyday use and entertainment tasks feel more capable.
Memory options include 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB of RAM, while storage is offered in 128GB and 256GB versions. A microSD slot remains available and supports cards up to 2TB.
The Tab Plus Gen 2 ships with Android 16 and is promised two major operating system upgrades through Android 18. Lenovo also says security patches will continue until 2030.
Battery life, charging, and design details
A 10,200mAh battery powers the tablet, and Lenovo claims it can last up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. Fast charging is rated at 45W, although the charger is not included in the box.
The hardware is not built around thinness. The tablet weighs 775 grams and measures 22.7 mm thick at the speaker section, reflecting the larger audio system inside.
Lenovo offers the model in Celestial White, and the tablet has also received an iF Design Award. Pricing starts at around $400, or about £370, with availability planned soon in the UK, Singapore, and Australia.
With its expanded audio hardware, larger display, and updated chipset, the Tab Plus Gen 2 strengthens Lenovo’s entertainment-first direction. The result is a tablet that is less about chasing ultra-thin design and more about delivering a stronger multimedia experience from the start.
