Galaxy A27 5G Drops the Notch, and Samsung’s New Snapdragon Promises a Bigger Leap

Samsung’s Galaxy A27 5G arrives with one of the most visible changes in the midrange lineup: the notch is gone. The phone switches to a punch-hole Infinity-O design, giving the front a cleaner look and a wider-feeling display area.

That visual update is paired with a new Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip built on a 4 nm process. Samsung says the move can deliver around a 10% to 20% performance gain over the Exynos 1380 5 nm used in the Galaxy A26.

A cleaner front, a familiar midrange formula

Samsung has also trimmed the bezels, which helps the 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen look more spacious. The panel still supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, keeping the model aligned with what users expect from a modern midrange device.

In other areas, the formula stays largely familiar. The company appears to be focusing on design refinement and better responsiveness without overhauling the core structure of the series.

The Galaxy A27 5G is offered in 6/128 GB, 8/128 GB, and 8/256 GB memory versions. It is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging.

Cameras, durability, and software support

On the back, the main camera uses a 50 MP sensor with Optical Image Stabilization, or OIS. It is joined by a 5 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera.

For selfies and video calls, Samsung includes a 12 MP front camera. The phone also carries an IP64 rating, which means it is protected against dust and splashes but is not intended for submersion.

Software support is another notable point. Samsung promises six operating system upgrades and security updates for up to six years, a commitment that may matter more to buyers planning longer ownership.

Price and availability

The Galaxy A27 5G went on sale in select markets, including Germany and the United States. Samsung will begin selling it on 3 July in four colors: Black, Blue, Light Green, and Light Pink.

In Germany, pricing starts at 350 euro. In the United States, the phone will go on sale on 14 July at 350 dollar AS, according to GSM Arena.

For now, Samsung has not announced an Indonesia launch schedule. That leaves local availability still pending while the new Galaxy A series model rolls out abroad.
