Redmi Headphones Neo Brings 42dB ANC and 72-Hour Battery to the Over-Ear Market

Redmi has taken a notable step beyond compact wireless earbuds with the launch of the Redmi Headphones Neo in China. The new over-ear model pairs 42dB active noise cancellation with a claimed 72-hour battery life, putting pressure on rivals in the value headphone segment.

That combination matters because Redmi has been better known for TWS products than full-size headphones. With this release, the brand is signaling a broader audio strategy aimed at users who want stronger noise isolation, longer endurance, and more advanced audio features.

Noise control and endurance lead the pitch

The headline feature is the 42dB ANC system, which Redmi says can significantly reduce surrounding noise. Users can choose from Deep, Balanced, and Light ANC modes, while adaptive ANC adjusts the level of suppression based on the environment.

Battery life is equally aggressive for the category. Redmi equips the headset with a 600mAh battery and claims up to 72 hours of playback on a single charge.

Fast charging is also part of the package, with a 10-minute top-up said to provide up to five hours of listening time. For commuters and frequent travelers, that combination is likely to be one of the most appealing parts of the product.

Audio hardware goes beyond basic wireless use

For sound reproduction, the Redmi Headphones Neo uses 40mm dynamic drivers with a titanium coating. Redmi places the driver in an independent acoustic chamber, a design intended to produce cleaner output with lower distortion.

The headset also supports USB Audio for wired playback. In that mode, it can deliver lossless audio up to 96kHz/24-bit and carries Hi-Res Audio certification.

Redmi includes four built-in EQ presets, while users who want more control can fine-tune the sound through a 10-band custom equalizer.

Fast Charging 10 minutes for up to 5 hours

Wired Audio USB Audio, up to 96kHz/24-bit

Design focuses on daily comfort

Redmi keeps the design relatively simple and portable. The earcups can fold for easier carrying, while the headset weighs about 263 grams.

Comfort is supported by protein leather ear cushions and slow-rebound foam, which are intended to make longer listening sessions easier to handle. The earcups can rotate by up to 110 degrees and tilt by 15 degrees to better fit different head shapes.

The metal headband is also adjustable, helping the headset balance durability and wearability in regular use.

Calls, sharing, and Xiaomi ecosystem features

For voice calls, Redmi adds an AI-powered system with three microphones. The setup includes wind noise reduction for speeds of up to 5 m/s, which should help maintain clarity during outdoor calls.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth, dual-device pairing, audio sharing, and notification broadcast. Redmi also adds Xiaomi HyperConnect support, including precise device finding, quick pairing, and audio transfer between compatible devices.

The headset is available in Jazz Blue, Symphony White, and Rock Black. It is currently being sold in China through Xiaomi’s official sales channels, with no global availability information announced yet.

At 349 Yuan, or 297 Yuan as a local promotional price, the Redmi Headphones Neo enters the market as an affordable over-ear option with features usually associated with higher tiers.
