Motorola has taken an unusually selective approach with the Razr Fold in Indonesia. The foldable phone arrives in just one configuration, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, while the 512 GB option is left out for now.
That decision also comes with another omission that may surprise some buyers: the stylus is not included in the retail package and is not yet being sold as an official accessory. Even so, Motorola says the hardware support is already built into the device.
Why Motorola chose 256 GB over 512 GB
Motorola Indonesia Product Portfolio Head Zulfahmi said planning for the device started far in advance, with production considerations made roughly six months earlier. At that stage, the company weighed memory costs against the benefits that would matter most to buyers.
According to Zulfahmi, a larger storage tier is not always the most meaningful upgrade for every user. Motorola instead chose to focus on features that would have a longer practical impact, including a 6,000 mAh battery, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, and stronger camera hardware.
“When we provide a 6,000 mAh battery, that capacity keeps delivering benefits for as long as the device is used. The same applies when we provide a better chipset and camera,” Zulfahmi said at the launch event in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The company also pointed out that storage needs can often be supported by cloud services and internet access. By contrast, battery capacity and chipset performance do not have an easy replacement after the phone has been purchased.
| Section | Main Specification |
|---|---|
| Memory | 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM, 256 GB UFS 4.1 storage |
| Battery | 6,000 mAh |
| Chipset | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 |
| Rear Camera | Three 50 MP cameras, main camera with Sony LYTIA 828 sensor, periscope camera with Sony LYTIA 600 sensor |
Motorola has not ruled out a 512 GB variant in the future. The company said that option could be considered if the Motorola user base in Indonesia grows further.
The stylus is supported, but not sold yet
While the screen already supports a digital pen, the stylus is still absent from the official sales package and has not been launched separately. Zulfahmi stressed that the capability exists at the hardware level, even if the accessory is not commercially available yet.
Motorola sees the stylus as a niche category. However, the company also believes users who rely on digital pens tend to show strong loyalty once they adopt that workflow.
For now, the priority is expanding the Razr Fold’s reach while keeping the device accessible to more consumers. Price remains a major consideration in that strategy, and Motorola wants the phone to remain within reach for a wider audience.
“We want to keep the device accessible to more consumers,” Zulfahmi said.
There is still no confirmed timeline for an official Razr Fold stylus. Motorola says it is studying the right moment to expand the accessory ecosystem, and any move in that direction is more likely once the user base becomes larger.
