Ai+ Nova Flip 5G Challenges Foldables, Dimensity 7300X And nxtQ OS Set The Trap

Ai+ has officially entered India’s clamshell foldable segment with the Nova Flip 5G, a device that aims to make foldables more accessible without dropping the core hardware buyers usually expect. The launch price of Rs 29,999 translates to about $360 USD, which places it far below many traditional foldable phones and immediately positions it as a value-focused contender.

The company is betting on a balanced mix of premium-style design, a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset, and nxtQ OS based on Android 16. That combination gives the Nova Flip 5G a clear identity: a foldable aimed at mainstream users who want the form factor, but not the usual flagship-level price tag.

A new affordable foldable enters the market

Ai+ is using the Nova Flip 5G to widen its product lineup in India, alongside the Nova 2 5G and Nova 2 Ultra 5G. This is the brand’s first clamshell foldable, and the timing suggests a direct push into a category that has often been limited by high entry costs.

The phone measures 7.2 mm in thickness and weighs 193 grams, which helps it stay relatively slim for a foldable. Its outer design includes a square cover display, dual rear camera rings, and an LED flash, creating a look that fits the familiar language of modern flip phones.

Main display and cover screen focus on practicality

Opened up, the Nova Flip 5G features a 6.9-inch AMOLED main display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel offers 443 ppi and peaks at 1,200 nits, which should help with outdoor visibility and smoother everyday scrolling.

On the outside, Ai+ adds a 3-inch OLED cover display with a 480 x 480 pixel resolution. The secondary screen supports a 60Hz refresh rate and up to 900 nits of brightness, making it useful for notifications, quick controls, and glanceable information without unfolding the phone.

Dimensity 7300X is the key hardware bet

Performance is centered on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300X, a 4nm chipset built with foldable devices in mind. MediaTek positions the chip as a platform suited to compact, flexible designs, while still offering performance in the same family as the standard Dimensity 7300.

Ai+ pairs the processor with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. That configuration keeps the phone in upper-midrange territory, with enough headroom for multitasking, social apps, media streaming, and use across both displays.

Software aims to differentiate the experience

The software choice may be just as important as the hardware. The Nova Flip 5G runs nxtQ OS based on Android 16, which gives Ai+ a chance to optimize the interface for a foldable form factor rather than relying only on a generic Android build.

That matters in a category where screen transitions, app continuity, and cover-display behavior can shape the daily experience. A foldable device can feel unfinished if the software does not adjust well to the design, so Ai+ is clearly treating the operating system as part of the product strategy.

Battery, camera, and connectivity round out the package

Ai+ equips the Nova Flip 5G with a 4,325mAh battery, and the company says the capacity is tuned for full-day use. Real-world endurance will still depend on how often the main display is used and how heavily the foldable features are activated.

Charging support reaches 33W, while connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor handles biometric unlocking, keeping the security setup in line with most phones in this price range.

For imaging, the phone uses a 50 MP main camera paired with a 2 MP secondary sensor. On the front, a 32 MP camera sits in a punch-hole cutout, giving the device a strong selfie specification for video calls and social content.

Ai+ will sell the Nova Flip 5G in a single 8 GB + 256 GB configuration, with White as the launch color. Exclusive sales on Flipkart are scheduled to begin in April, and that retail approach should help the company test demand for a foldable that is priced much closer to standard midrange smartphones than to premium flagship foldables.
