A Gaming Phone With Its Own Controller, OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra Launches At 3,499 Yuan

OnePlus has positioned the Ace 6 Ultra as a performance-first smartphone for users who care more about speed, stability, and gaming control than about a typical flagship formula. The device arrives in China with a starting price of 3,499 yuan and brings together a large battery, an aggressive cooling package, and support for an external gaming controller that is unusual in this class.

The headline specification is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a high-end chipset built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process. OnePlus says the chip uses an all-big-core architecture, a setup that concentrates every core on demanding workloads rather than balancing around efficiency-first configurations.

Built for heavy gaming loads

That approach is aimed directly at long, intense gaming sessions, where frame stability matters as much as peak speed. OnePlus claims the Dimensity 9500 can deliver up to 32% better performance than the previous generation while reducing power consumption by as much as 55% under heavy workloads.

Those numbers place the Ace 6 Ultra in a category that is clearly focused on sustained performance rather than just short bursts of speed. Games such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and PUBG Mobile fit the device’s intended use case, especially when the goal is to maintain a high frame rate over extended play.

A controller that changes the experience

One of the most distinctive features of the Ace 6 Ultra is its support for the Strix Gaming Controller, which is sold separately for around 65 dollars or about Rp1 million. Unlike conventional mobile gamepads, the accessory does not use analog joysticks and instead relies on mechanical, esports-style buttons.

OnePlus says the controller delivers a 1.8 ms input response and uses a dedicated esports chip for faster processing. It attaches magnetically to the side of the phone, giving the setup a more console-like feel while keeping the flexibility of an Android smartphone.

Cooling that is designed to hold performance longer

To support that gaming focus, OnePlus has equipped the device with a layered thermal solution. The package includes Wind Chaser Gaming Kernel on the software side, Glacier Cooling System as the thermal structure, and a 6,000 mm² vapor chamber.

OnePlus says that vapor chamber is among the largest currently found in smartphones. The purpose is straightforward: keep temperatures under control so peak performance can last longer, even in demanding conditions or hotter environments.

Display and battery tuned for long sessions

The front panel uses a 6.78-inch LTPS OLED display from BOE with a 1.5K resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels. It supports an adaptive 165Hz refresh rate and touch sampling up to 4000Hz, both of which should help with fast on-screen response in competitive games.

The screen is also designed to remain readable outdoors thanks to a high peak brightness level. Behind that display sits a dual-cell 8600mAh battery, which OnePlus says can power 6 to 7 hours of heavy gaming or last up to two days with lighter mixed use.

Fast charging and restrained camera hardware

Charging speed is another major part of the package, as the phone supports 120W fast charging. OnePlus claims the battery can go from 0% to 100% in less than 30 minutes, which suits a device built around repeated gaming sessions and short turnaround times.

Camera hardware is present, but it is not the main selling point. The rear setup consists of a 50 MP main camera with OIS, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 16 MP front camera, enough for everyday use without turning the phone into a camera-focused device.

Design, durability, and variants

The Ace 6 Ultra uses a metal frame, large rounded corners, and a flat cube-like rear camera module. It also carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, giving it a broad set of dust and water resistance certifications.

Available configurations include 12GB + 256GB for ¥3,499, 16GB + 256GB for ¥3,799, 12GB + 512GB for ¥4,099, 16GB + 512GB for ¥4,399, and 16GB + 1TB for ¥5,099. With that combination of high-end silicon, a fast display, a large battery, and a dedicated gaming controller, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra stands out as one of the most aggressive gaming-oriented smartphones in its segment.
