Some iPhone users are beginning to see a new premium option inside WhatsApp: WhatsApp Plus. The feature is rolling out gradually on iOS and is designed to make the app feel more personal without changing the core messaging service.
The subscription is reported to cost around Rp50 ribu per month in some markets, although the exact price varies by region. On iPhone, it has started appearing for select users on version 26.17.74 in certain areas.
What changes and what stays the same
WhatsApp Plus is not a separate app. It is built directly into WhatsApp for iPhone, while the main functions remain free to use.
That means messages, voice calls, video calls, and end-to-end encryption are still available without any extra charge. Meta is keeping the basic WhatsApp experience intact even as it tests premium additions.
Pricing depends on the market
WABetaInfo reports that the subscription price is not uniform across countries. In Europe, the fee is said to be around 2,49 Euro, or roughly Rp43.000 to Rp50.000 per month.
Other prices mentioned include 229 Rupee in Pakistan and around 29 Peso in Mexico. Meta has not announced an official price for Indonesia, so users in the country still have to wait for local pricing and feature availability on their accounts.
Visual customization is the main draw
One of the most noticeable additions is premium stickers with fullscreen overlay animation. The effect is designed to be more interactive because the animation fills the screen when sent.
The animated sticker effect can still be viewed by recipients even if they do not subscribe. That makes the feature work across both premium and non-premium users.
WhatsApp Plus also expands appearance controls on iPhone. Users can choose from 18 new accent colors, including Vibrant Blue, Royal Purple, and Burgundy.
Alongside the color options, there are 14 new app icon choices for the iPhone home screen. The selection ranges from minimalist designs to more decorative looks.
More control over active chats
The premium package also increases the pinned chat limit from three to 20 chats. For people handling multiple groups or important conversations, that makes priority chats easier to keep in view.
WhatsApp Plus also adds more organization tools for the chat list. Users can group conversations, such as work groups or family chats, and apply the same theme and ringtone with one setting.
On the audio side, WhatsApp is offering 10 exclusive ringtones and notification sounds. The names mentioned include Flutter, Ripple, Quest, Drum, and Murmur.
Meta is also said to be preparing a free trial for some users. The trial length varies, with options ranging from one week to one month, although availability still depends on region and account status.
For users who want to check whether the feature is already active, updating WhatsApp through the App Store is the first step. If the rollout has reached the account, the subscription option will appear in the app’s Settings menu.
