Nubia is pushing gaming phones into a more accessible price range with the Neo 5 series, but the most attention-grabbing detail is the presence of an active cooling fan on the Neo 5 GT. That hardware move, usually associated with more expensive gaming devices, arrives in a package priced at Rp 6.499.000 for the 8GB/256GB variant and Rp 6.999.000 for the 12GB/256GB model.
The wider lineup also includes the Neo 5 5G, which is positioned as the lower-priced option. Its 8GB/256GB configuration is sold at Rp 5.699.000, giving buyers a cheaper path into the same gaming-focused family without losing the core identity of the series.
Pre-order window and launch incentives
Pre-orders run from 16-24 May 2026 through various marketplaces. During that period, buyers can take part in a Mystery Box promotion that includes prizes such as 99 gold bars of 2 grams, a drone, a gamepad, and a cooling fan.
Nubia is also offering additional early-buyer incentives. These include vouchers worth up to Rp 500,000, 0% installments for up to 6 months, and AXIS gaming data of up to 300GB.
Neo 5 GT as the most complete model
The Neo 5 GT sits at the top of the series with a 1.5K AMOLED display and a 144Hz refresh rate. Nubia is clearly targeting smoother motion and more responsive gameplay with that panel combination.
Its biggest differentiator is the cooling system. Nubia says the device is the first smartphone in its class to use a built-in active cooling fan, supported by VC Cooling and Graphene, with a total cooling area of 29,508 mm².
Performance is handled by a 4nm chipset, which Nubia says helps balance power efficiency and stable gaming performance. The phone also uses Neo Triggers 5.0 at 550Hz with a response time below 5.5 milliseconds.
Beyond the trigger hardware, Nubia adds Magic Touch Algorithm 3.0 at up to 3,049Hz, NeoTurbo Engine, AI Game Space 5.0, and a 360° Game Antenna. Together, those features are aimed at keeping control response, thermal management, and signal stability aligned during long gaming sessions.
Battery, charging, and design choices
Battery capacity is another important part of the Neo 5 GT package. The device carries a dual-cell 6,210mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.
Nubia also includes Bypass Charging, a feature designed to reduce heat when the phone is used for gaming while plugged in. That aligns with the broader focus on sustained performance rather than short bursts alone.
Design-wise, the back panel is made flat and does not carry a camera bump. Nubia says the shape is inspired by REDMAGIC gaming phones, with comfort in horizontal gaming use as the main idea.
Neo 5 5G keeps the gaming identity
The Neo 5 5G takes a more affordable route, but it still keeps several core gaming features from the series. It runs on a 6nm chipset focused on balancing performance and power efficiency.
Nubia does not strip away the gaming tools here. The phone still carries Neo Triggers 5.0 at 550Hz, NeoTurbo Engine, AI Game Space 5.0, and a 360° Game Antenna.
Cooling is handled by a VC Cooling and Graphene combination with a total area of 20,000 mm². The handset also comes with a 6,050mAh battery to support longer use, especially during extended play.
How Nubia is shaping the segment
The Neo 5 series shows a clear strategy: bring gaming-centric hardware to the mid-range instead of keeping it locked in flagship territory. Physical triggers, large cooling systems, big batteries, and stable connectivity are all part of the package.
The main differences between the two models lie in the display, chipset, and the Neo 5 GT’s active cooling fan. That makes the GT the more fully equipped option, while the Neo 5 5G remains the lower-cost entry point for users who still want a gaming phone with core features intact.
