Two alleged scammers were stopped during an extraordinary police operation near the Tigros parking area in Arcisate, where fraud targeting shoppers had been reported. The operation used plainclothes officers and an unmarked vehicle to monitor the area and intervene quickly.
The arrests prompted Giacomo Cosentino, vice president of Lombardy’s Regional Council and secretary of Lombardia Ideale, to praise the local police force. He also called for the rapid enforcement of an existing expulsion order against one of the people involved, who was described as being in Italy irregularly.
Targeted checks near the parking area
According to www.laprovinciadivarese.it, Arcisate’s Local Police conducted the surveillance as part of increased checks against property-related crimes. The officers focused their attention on the Tigros parking lot after reports of scams affecting people using the area.
Cosentino said targeted surveillance in civilian clothing can help prevent crimes and allow officers to act without delay. He said the approach can also help counter the presence of individuals considered potentially dangerous to the community.
Recognition for Arcisate’s Local Police
The regional politician thanked Local Police commander Andrea Odoni, a chief commissioner, along with all officers involved in the daily work of protecting the area. Cosentino said their efforts often take place away from public attention but produce concrete results for public safety and legality.
He said there is no space in the area for people who commit crimes and reiterated his support for the police force. The case has placed renewed attention on the role of proactive local patrols in responding to reported fraud in public parking areas.
