Nuu B40 5G Turns Its Rear AMOLED Screen Into A Practical Tool, Not A Gimmick

Nuu’s B40 5G stands out in the budget smartphone segment for one reason that is easy to notice and harder to dismiss: the rear AMOLED panel is not decorative. Called the Vista Display, the small secondary screen is built to handle everyday tasks and camera functions, giving the phone a feature set that is more practical than the typical cosmetic add-on.

That approach gives the B40 5G a different identity from many low-cost phones sold in the United States. Instead of relying only on standard hardware, Nuu has paired familiar midrange specifications with a back display that can show useful information and support shooting from the rear camera system.

A rear screen that actually does work

The Vista Display sits next to the dual rear camera module on the raised camera island. It measures 1.6 inches, uses an AMOLED panel, and carries a 460 x 228 resolution with a peak brightness of 500 nits.

Nuu says the panel can show the time, date, charging status, call and message previews, daily steps, and media playback controls. It can also serve as a viewfinder and shutter button when using the rear cameras, which makes it more functional than the small screens often found on cheaper devices.

Main display and camera setup

The front of the phone is built around a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution. It supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 1100 nits, putting the main screen in line with the phone’s more ambitious visual design.

For photography, the B40 5G uses a 64 MP main rear camera paired with a 2 MP macro camera. A 16 MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.

Core hardware and software

Inside, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 and 8 GB of RAM. Storage comes in at 256 GB, but there is no expansion slot, so the built-in capacity is the only option available.

The device ships with Android 15 out of the box. Nuu has not shared any details about long-term software support for the model.

Battery and connectivity

Nuu equips the B40 5G with a 5,000 mAh battery and 33 W wired charging. The phone also includes an in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual SIM support.

Those features help position the phone as a competitive budget option, especially for buyers who want more than the usual entry-level package. The active rear AMOLED panel is the detail that separates it from most low-priced alternatives, which tend to depend on standard specs alone.

Price and availability

The B40 5G is offered in a single 8 GB + 256 GB configuration and is priced at $249.99. It comes in midnight grey and is available directly through Nuu’s official website.
