Motorola’s New Razr Ultra Leads the Lineup With a 5,000mAh Battery and 4-Inch Cover Screen

Motorola is sharpening its foldable strategy with a clearer three-tier Razr lineup, and the new Razr Ultra sits at the top with the most aggressive hardware package. It is the model built to draw attention first, thanks to a 5,000mAh battery, a 4-inch outer display, and Snapdragon 8 Elite performance.

That positioning matters because Motorola is no longer leaning on a simple two-model split. The latest Razr family now separates into a standard model, a Plus variant, and an Ultra tier, giving the company a more defined way to address buyers who want different levels of features and pricing.

A more distinct lineup

The new structure makes each Razr easier to place. The standard Razr serves as the entry point, the Razr+ fills the premium midrange space, and the Razr Ultra targets users who want the strongest specs in the group.

Motorola says the latest generation combines more mature design, stronger performance, and AI capabilities. That framing suggests the company is not only refreshing the hardware, but also trying to make the family feel more clearly differentiated.

Where the Razr Ultra pulls ahead

The Razr Ultra gets a 7.0-inch main display, making it larger than the 6.9-inch internal panels used by its two siblings. On the outside, it uses a 4-inch screen that it shares with the Razr+, while the standard Razr keeps a smaller 3.6-inch cover display.

The outer panel on the Ultra also stands out on speed and brightness. Like the Razr+, it supports a 165Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, while the standard Razr is limited to 90Hz and 1,700 nits.

Battery and charging lead the family

Motorola gave the Razr Ultra a 5,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery, which is the largest battery in the new Razr lineup. It also marks an increase over the 4,700mAh lithium-ion battery in its predecessor.

Charging is strongest on the Ultra as well. It supports 68W TurboPower, ahead of the Razr+ at 45W TurboPower and the standard Razr at 30W TurboPower.

Clear separation in performance and hardware

The chipset choices underline Motorola’s segmentation strategy. The Razr Ultra uses Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Razr+ runs Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, and the standard Razr is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7450X.

Motorola also keeps the materials and camera setups distinct. The Razr Ultra uses Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, while the Razr+ and standard Razr both rely on Gorilla Glass Victus.

In imaging, the Ultra again takes the lead with three 50MP cameras. The Razr+ and standard Razr both use dual 50MP cameras, combining a main camera and an ultrawide lens.

Pricing and color options

Motorola has set a wide price gap across the lineup. The Razr Ultra costs $1,499.99, the Razr+ is priced at $1,099.99, and the standard Razr starts at $799.99.

Color choices also vary by model. The Razr Ultra comes in Pantone Cocoa and Pantone Orient Blue, while the Razr+ is offered in Pantone Mountain View. The standard Razr gets the broadest selection, with Pantone Hematite, Pantone Violet Ice, Pantone Sporting Green, and Pantone Bright White.

Availability in the US

In the United States, preorders for the Razr Ultra, Razr+, and standard Razr open on May 14. Buyers can place orders through Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Motorola.com.

Official sales begin on May 21, bringing the full Razr trio to market at the same time. The launch follows Motorola’s earlier Razr Fold debut at Lenovo Tech World, with the new Ultra model now serving as the clearest statement of the company’s foldable ambitions.
