Xiaomi has expanded its smart home lineup with a bathroom product aimed at a very practical daily need. The Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition combines lighting, heating, and exhaust ventilation in a single ceiling-mounted unit.
The most notable part is not just the heating output, but the way the device behaves around people. It uses a built-in radar system to detect when someone is in the bathroom, then turns the light on, keeps air moving during use, and shuts everything down once the room is empty.
Radar detection is designed to avoid missed triggers
Instead of the infrared motion sensors commonly found in smart bathroom lights, Xiaomi uses a 24GHz radar system for continuous presence detection. That approach makes the unit less likely to overlook a user who stays still inside the room for a while.
According to Gizmochina, the sensor settings can also be adjusted for sensitivity and range. That gives users a way to reduce unwanted activation, such as when someone passes by an open bathroom door.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Sensor | 24GHz radar with continuous presence detection |
| Heater | 3,000W graphene element with variable frequency control |
| Exhaust | About 259 m³/h air flow |
| Lighting | Flush ceiling panel, up to 1,500 lumens |
| Color Temperature | 3,000K to 6,200K |
| Control | Mi Home, HyperOS, and IPX4 wireless wall switch |
Heating, air movement, and lighting in one unit
The heating system uses a 3,000W graphene element with variable frequency control, allowing the output to adjust instead of running at full power all the time. Xiaomi also includes oscillating louvers that move between 60 and 90 degrees to direct warm air downward toward the floor.
That airflow approach is meant to make the room feel warm faster while the bathroom is in use. The unit also includes two DC motors, allowing the heater and exhaust function to operate at the same time.
The exhaust side is rated at around 259 cubic meters per hour, which should help keep the bathroom drier and less stuffy. On the lighting side, the panel sits flush with the ceiling and can output up to 1,500 lumens.
Connected to Mi Home and HyperOS
The lighting system supports a color temperature range from 3,000K to 6,200K, along with a night-light mode for evening use. Xiaomi also connects the device to Mi Home and HyperOS for scheduling and voice control.
To make installation easier, the company includes an IPX4-rated wireless wall switch that can be mounted in an 86mm electrical box without running new wiring through the wall. That adds a more flexible control option for homes that want smart features without major electrical work.
For China, the Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition will enter crowdfunding next week at a price of 999 yuan, or around $148. Xiaomi is also adding more smart home products at the same time, including a new water flosser with a color display and up to 105 days of battery life, as well as a Mijia Handheld Fan in a new green color.
