India May Get Poco X8 and M8 Power, but a Price Warning Looms

Poco may be preparing two new smartphones for India, but the reported pricing could become the bigger story. Tipster Yogesh Brar described the expected prices of the Poco M8 Power and Poco X8 as “bad,” suggesting they may cost substantially more than their Redmi counterparts in China.

The assessment has drawn attention because both devices are expected to be rebranded versions of recently launched Redmi models. Poco has not announced either phone, so their final names, configurations, and prices remain subject to change.

Two Redmi-Based Models Are Reportedly Planned

The Poco M8 Power is believed to be based on the Chinese Redmi Note 17. The Poco X8, meanwhile, is expected to draw from the Redmi Note 17 Pro that was also introduced in China.

According to Gadgets360, the M8 Power could carry the same specifications and features as the Chinese Redmi Note 17. Details regarding the X8 point to a closer match with the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro rather than its reported global variant.

An 8,000mAh Battery Could Define the M8 Power

If Poco retains the hardware of its reported reference model, the Poco M8 Power could feature an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. It could also arrive with an 8,000mAh battery, the most notable specification mentioned in the leak.

The Redmi Note 17 launched in China on July 14 with a starting price of CNY 1,299. That price applied to the version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

It does not establish the expected Indian price of the Poco model. Poco has yet to confirm whether the Indian device will use the same battery capacity, chipset, memory options, or storage configurations.

Poco X8 Camera Setup Reportedly Matches China Model

Tipster Kacper Skrzypek has shared a more specific camera claim for the Indian Poco X8. The phone is said to use a 50 MP rear main camera paired with a 2 MP depth sensor.

That setup matches the Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro. It reportedly differs from the global Redmi Note 17 Pro, which is expected to replace the 2 MP depth sensor with an 8 MP ultrawide camera.

The reported camera arrangement could make the Indian Poco X8 more closely aligned with the Chinese model. Other specifications, including its chipset, have not yet been disclosed.

Launch Is Said to Be Set for This Quarter

Brar said in a post on X that both phones are expected to launch in India during this quarter. This leaves open the possibility of an announcement in the coming weeks or months.

The release timing and pricing will be important for Poco’s India strategy, especially if the higher-price expectation proves accurate. For now, the devices remain part of an unconfirmed leak rather than an official Poco product announcement.
