Tecno Pova 8 5G has launched in Indonesia at prices substantially higher than those of the preceding generation. The 8/128 GB model is priced at Rp 5 juta, compared with Rp 3 juta for the Tecno Pova 7 5G in the same configuration.
Tecno attributes the increase to a shortage of RAM across the smartphone industry. The company said pressure on memory supplies has also been intensified by the artificial intelligence, or AI, trend.
The new Pova model was introduced on 15 July 2026, starting at Rp 4,3 juta for the 6/128 GB version. Its 8/256 GB option is priced at Rp 5,6 juta.

The entry-level Pova 8 5G has less RAM than the Pova 7 5G configurations listed at launch, yet its starting price remains higher. The earlier Pova 7 5G 8/256 GB model was sold at Rp 3,2 juta, far below the Rp 5,6 juta asked for its successor.
Anthoni Roderick, Tecno’s PR Manager, said the supply issue is affecting all smartphone brands. He said RAM components have become more difficult to obtain, forcing price adjustments on recently released and existing devices.
“Because the current RAM shortage is being felt by all brands, we have made price adjustments. The newly released Pova 8 5G has also had its price adjusted,” Anthoni said after the Jakarta Selatan launch on 15 July 2026.

The price changes extend beyond the Pova lineup to the Spark 50 and Camon 50 series. Several models are now listed above their original launch prices.

The 4/128 GB Tecno Spark 50 has risen from Rp 1.999.000 to Rp 2.699.000. Its 6/128 GB version increased from Rp 2,3 juta to Rp 3,1 juta.
The Tecno Camon 50 8/128 GB moved from Rp 3,6 juta to Rp 4,2 juta. The Camon 50 Pro 8/256 GB also increased from Rp 5,5 juta to Rp 5,8 juta.
Anthoni said the memory shortage affected Tecno’s Indonesian growth in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. He described the decline as slight and still within a safe range rather than a sharp fall.
The company expects memory supply challenges to remain through the second half of 2026. Tecno said it will focus on larger batteries, new display technology, and expansion into tablets and laptops alongside RAM capacity.
