OnePlus Faces a Bigger Retreat, India Could Be Next in Oppo’s Restructuring

OnePlus is facing fresh uncertainty as reports suggest the brand may not stop at the United States and Europe. If the internal plan moves forward, India could be added to the exit list in 2027 as part of a broader restructuring under Oppo.

That possibility matters because India has long been one of OnePlus’ most strategic markets. For users and fans of the brand, the latest reports point to a much deeper shift than a routine business adjustment.

Markets already set for an early exit

Bloomberg reports that OnePlus is expected to first wind down operations in the United States and Europe before extending similar steps to other regions. The information was attributed to a person familiar with the internal plan and described as part of Oppo’s wider effort to reorganize its business.

India was not listed as an immediate target in that report. Even so, OnePlus India is said to be next in line in 2027 if the restructuring continues on the current path.

Why Oppo is making the shift

Oppo is said to be reshaping its smartphone business because momentum has slowed in several international markets, including the U.S., Europe, and India. Rising component costs, especially for DRAM and memory, are also putting pressure on the business.

The same report points to geopolitical tensions in the U.S. and legal disputes involving Apple as additional factors influencing the decision. Taken together, those pressures appear to be pushing Oppo toward a narrower focus on the markets it considers most important.

Realme is also caught in the same reset

The restructuring is not limited to OnePlus. Bloomberg says Realme, another brand under Oppo’s umbrella, could also leave the China market as part of the same broader adjustment.

At the same time, Oppo is said to be concentrating on China and strengthening its presence in Central Europe. For Realme, Nordic markets such as Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland are reportedly being prioritized because of strong demand.

Signals already visible in India

This is the first report to openly place India inside OnePlus’ longer-term restructuring picture. Earlier reports had only pointed to possible exits from the U.S. and Europe, leaving India’s future unclear.

Changes inside OnePlus India have already become visible. Earlier this year, Robin Liu stepped down as CEO of OnePlus India as the company simplified its local leadership structure.

Gadgets 360 said it had contacted OnePlus for comment and would update the story if the company responds. Until then, OnePlus’ future in India remains tied to an Oppo restructuring plan that has not yet been formally announced.
